A while back my friends came up with the idea of Stitch Up London, a group of talented young ladies that have a great passion for making clothes, being inventive and just all in all fucking fabulous.
as of the 10th of December, the ladies will be having a day/night event at my gallery, Ground Floor Left, where they have teamed up with some other amazing creative designers. Everything from furniture to nails and even tattoos. This indoor market is a definite must see/ experience. There will be bands playing throughout and cheap drinks to wet your whistle.
after being asked to contribute a small collection to the event, i thought it was time to use my new Fashionary sketch book. I had bought my Fashionary sketch a while back and with everything new i buy i always get a bit intimidated using it for the first time at the risk of ruining it. I got my acted together and went for it... and here are the results.
The point of stitch up is recycling clothing- Although the girls went for a more vintagey feel i opted for a more buying unworn clothing and customizing them. in the picture above i cut up a shirt and added a new fabric to continue it with a new button on the collar. The trousers i made from scratch using this hot pink fabric that i have had for a while. the whole concept is about mixing formal with informal, loose with structure etc. to see more pictures of what everyone else has been doing visit www.stitchuplondon.blogspot.com or to join the event on facebook click here . See you there its going to be TOTES amazing.
